Zain H, one of the winners of our SOUP Wars giveaway just received the Catnose Comics prize package. Check out the reaction and the swag.
“Never win a thing in my life till now
thanks to Vas & Catnose Comics. Package arrived so quickly too!”
We aim to please here at SOUP Wars and Catnose Comics!
My dear visitors,
Mandarr, Paul and myself will be taking a break on this project for time being. We currently don’t have the funding to continue this project at the level of quality I desire. Don’t worry, the team is still busy. Mandarr will be working on Rasputin Barxotka and her own commissions projects, which you can read about on her blog. Paul’s work can be seen on Dissident Priest during his break here, in addition to taking work for flats and holds independently.
On a related topic, I am actually going to start work on creating an actual physical version of the Green Obsidian Tarot Deck on the first chapter. I made a major arcana-only version for my friends before, but now, I feel that I might be motivated to work on the full deck with better. When it’s done I will be sure to sell it here, but I will post the art as it comes. My sole goal will be to make the deck as beautiful as possible.
That’s all I have to report for now. Thanks for tuning in and please let others know about SOUP Wars! Word of mouth is the best way to get the word out. The more people we have reading our comic, the better our ad revenue is and the more updates we’ll be able to make. This is our most expensive webcomic production, so your help is greatly appreciated in promoting this project!
Cheers,
Vas

SOUP Wars is going into active hiatus on January 2013.
by Vas on November 25, 2011 at 9:39 amBecause, I want to reorganize the archives, story arc and dedicate more energy into marketing, I am putting this website on hiatus until 2013. SOUP Wars is very labor intensive, and honestly, I do not have the resources or energy necessary to market it properly. I am currently putting my energies towards my top three most popular webcomic projects. Until the ad revenues on those sites are enough to make these three projects self-sufficient, at the very least, I am not going to actively promote SOUP Wars. There’s only one of me, and until I can afford help, I’ll just have to live with delaying SOUP Wars releases. I would rather do this project right than rushed and half-baked.
I apologize to everyone who looks forward to a new page of SOUP Wars every month, but this is for the best. Stop by at the end of the month to view the last SOUP Wars page until the hiatus and to find out who won the giveaway. Be sure to comment or follow me on at Twitter, Tumblr, G+ or DeviantArt for a chance to win a free print comic book!

Here’s a lovely remake of “Criatura” page by Milton Das! Isn’t it stunning?

As if that weren’t enough coolness for the day, Paul and I just finished the the flats, inks and holds for this month’s page. We have sent it over to Mandarr. As I type this, she is already working on the feather layer. When Mandarr finishes that task, she will be giving the color a lot of dimension. Because we’ve been working together for three months now, I finally have a good feel for what we need to do on the prelim end of things to make her job as the colorist a lot easier. We make a great team and here’s what we’ve done so far.
Now that I’ve shared the art, here’s the rules for this week’s SOUP Wars’ contest. To enter, all you need to do is leave a comment here with your name and a valid email address. Alternatively, you may send me an email. (You must be 18+ to enter) If you want (optional) bonus entries, here’s what you do:

Progress and Leslie Ortego’s Sweet SOUP Wars Cover
by Vas on October 11, 2011 at 1:39 amThis month’s page is still at a fairly rough state yet, but we’re working on it. I can’t wait until I start hatching the digital inks so Paul can do the color holds. That’s when things start getting really pretty.
While you patiently wait for the new page of SOUP Wars, I would like to point your attention to this lovely piece of SOUP Wars cover art created by Leslie Ortego of Blaster Nation. This delightful webcomic is about a group of five geeks whose refusal to deal with reality yields insane amounts of amusement. If you’ve ever dealt with gamers, dreamers and comic book fiends for extended periods of time, you’re going to love Blaster Nation. While you are there, be sure to check out the commissions page for some fantastic deals on original art. Leslie and Brad are top-notch when it comes to customer service and I highly recommend them. I was quite impressed with the results, and I hope you are as well.
